The tiny feathered being was watching from a high branch at the two distant figures. Master was right - something isn't right here at all. Master is so smart! Although Solomon knew he was not suppose to interact with other humans or other creatures, he dared getting closer to them and listen to their conversation. After all, he WAS suppose to explore and gather information. And what better way than listening to by-passers's small talk.
Solomon flapped lightly from his higher spot to a closer thick bush, looking between the leaves. Are they looking for something? They have a map, certainly they were searching for something of great importance. Maybe it's that big castle he saw a little while ago...

A disturbance in the wind caught his attention, as well as the younger female's. Peeping from it's spot and through the tall trees, he could notice a large shadow gliding in the night sky... Foul beast...! And dangerous looking too. This forest is probably infested with these. He will report it to his Master as soon as he finish up with these humans...

Wait one moment...

Solomon cocked his head to the side, observing the pair. The male was certainly human... He reeked of human actually. But the other one... did not smell at all. Not like a living creature, that is. Undead? Not likely, her body is not decomposed enough. Possessed human body? Most certainly not. Then...
Her smile revealed a pair of sharp fangs. Just two.
Oh... OH! This is very much interesting. He would report back to the Master!
....as soon as he is done spying on these two.

(("If Birds could Sweat" - the musical))

If it was possible to let out a sigh of relief in this form, this would probably be the first thing Solomon would do. But on account he was but a bird at the moment, he could only blink and move his head as naturally as possible...

Wait - that's it!

"Act natural" - his master would say. But how does one act like a bird...? What do birds do, besides flapping their wings and fly... Solomon wasn't very versed in the acts of wild life.
Should he tweet...? No, that would just draw even more attention at him. Peck for worms? Absolutely not, out of the question. Maybe just... hop around? Robins are usually cheerful beings, he suppose that could work.
Solomon tried his best to imitate the small foot work of said birds on top of the branch, while tweeting ever so slightly to look... well, natural.
If he played it out right, the human and vampire would mind him no more. Then he will be able to decided if he should continue his work, or meet back with his master... Maybe head to that castle first? It all depended on his acting skills...

It became harder to follow Gladys since  it wasn't getting any lighter and the bushwork was getting denser. O'Melly hated forests for exactly that. Stupid nature. Small cussing escape the man as he struggled to stay behind the young woman.

O'Melly's mind went blank for a split second when he looked at the small woman. She was terrifying. Even more terrifying than the meeting earlier with the monsterous bird.
He had enough. Enough of these woods. Enough of being scared. He still had his hand on the gun in his inner pocket so he did the only thing that made sense to him right now.
There were no other thoughts. Only that whatever the woman Gladys was, a bullet might stop her long enough for him to make a break for the opposite direction and get as much distance between him and her as possible.
So with shakey hand and horror he pulled the trigger, his revovler pointed at this thing.
